Internet Information Services (IIS) Part 2 – De-Activation And Re-Activation (Video)
Welcome back.

Hi, my name is Philip King, and welcome to this video tutorial on installing Internet Information Services (IIS).
- In this tutorial you will learn how to de-activation and re-activation Internet Information Services (IIS).
This is the second of a three part series on Internet Information Services (IIS) covering the installation, de-activation and re-activation and removal of IIS using Windows XP. In this second session we are going to de-activate and re-activate IIS.
In The Beginning
The ability to de-activate IIS is particularly pertinent if you are going to deploy another server such as the Apache server (the most popular).
I’m going to presume you have IIS installed on your machine for this session. If IIS is not installed on your machine, part one of this guide will show you how to install IIS.
This video tutorial, Internet Information Services (IIS) Part 2 De-Activation And Re-Activation,
is also available as a HD PDF file for download. You will need Adobe Acrobat 9 or better to view.
De-Activation Of IIS
- To begin, click the Windows Start button.
- Select – Setting > Control Panel to select the Control Panel menu item. This will open the Control Panel window.
- To open the Administrative Tools window Double click the Administrative Tools icon.
- Then open the services window by double clicking the Services item.
- With the Services window open Scroll down and find the IIS Admin entry.
- When you’ve found the IIS Admin entry Click on the IIS Admin item once. If you accidentally click twice on the IIS item, the IIS Admin Properties window will be displayed. Just close this window down again.
- In the left panel of the Services window you will see three options available:
a) Stop the service
b) Pause the service and
c) Re-start the serviceWe are going to stop the service so Select, Stop the service.
- The first time you stop the service the Stop Other Services dialog box will open. This shows the services associated with IIS. Select the YES button to stop everything.
- With IIS stopped, if you look at the IIS entry in the status column you should find a blank Status entry
Re-Activation Of IIS
- To start IIS again just select the Start link. The Services Control Window will be displayed briefly and the Status column will show IIS as Started.
- Close the Services Window
- Close the Administrative Tools Window
