Your Plugin Homepage

Having your own plugin home page is an important part of promoting your plugin as well as giving your users important and necessary information. This is the page you would usually link to from the plugin header. You should make sure it is descriptive and well written.

If you write a good readme.txt file with a few nice screenshots, you will find it much easier to create this page as the information contained in the readme.txt file will contain almost everything you need for your own plugin home page.

• If you would like your own web site so you can host and support your plugins see my article, ‘Where to Register Domain Names“.

• Always include large download link or button at the top of the page. Many users will come to this page simply to download the latest version of your plugin.
• Always point your download link to the file in the WordPress repository as this should always contain the latest version.
• Every time you update the plugin, write a blog about the changes.
