I use AWeber regularly for all my businesses and marketing campaigns and highly recommend it. They walk you through each step in the process, they help you avoid spam complaints through their double opt in feature… the only down side is importing lists since they want the double opt-in but even that was easy enough to work around once I notified my list that I was doing a clean up and wanted them to opt-in only if they wanted to continue receiving information from me. I’ve not used GetResponse so have no feedback on their services, but most of the marketers I network with (with huge lists) use AWeber which gave me the confidence to try it out. I wouldn’t change at this point.

I switched providers for my company’s email marketing needs from Constant Contact to AWeber, primarily because the sales team informed me that the change over would be seamless. It was a nightmare. I manage a premium consulting list that is a paid monthly service. AWeber’s opt-in policy simply does not work. Here we have a paid monthly subscription list and they require to opt-in to their system. In short, their emails are detected as SPAM by our subscriber base and they can’t be added. Nor, can the message to add them be sent again. I went the rounds with support on it and they just didn’t seem to be in the mood to help me as much as they were in the mood to lecture me that unless they opted in, I was spamming them. Please. The issue is, they hadn’t opted in to Weber’s system. I gave them two choices, either help me find a solution or give me a refund. They gave me a refund. I would recommend looking at other options before doing business with AWeber. The entire process was extremely frustrating.

I have had a very negative experience with AWeber. They were very helpful UNTIL I placed the order. Afterwards, everything just collapsed. I have practically lost 90% of my list when I tried to import it to the AWeber account due to their terrible double opt-in process. They wouldn’t let me import the list without performing the unnecessary confirmation process, even though I had the permission from _every single subscriber_ on my 12k subscriber list. Later, when I got a single complaint against a double opt-in confirmed member, they treated me as if I was some kind of spammer. I strongly recommend against using AWeber for your email marketing purposes. Don’t make the mistake I did — avoid frustration, save your money and check out their competitors.
