Smart marketers know that follow-up autoresponders drive sales. But, many don’t know how to write the email messages they need in order to use these tools. Don’t let that keep you from increased profits! Write masterful messages with these simple steps:

  • Pull the Reader in
  • Introduce the Product
  • Explain the Product’s Significance
  • Tell the Reader to Make a Purchase

Pull the Reader in

First, convince your audience that your text is worth reading with a snappy subject line. Then when you have their attention, keep them interested with your first sentence or two. Make a bold statement, say something outwardly ridiculous, or appeal to their emotions. For instance:

  • Want to make your colleges envious? Become a business entrepreneur with a potential fortune in just three months!

Introduce the Product

Say what the product is? Tell them what is does. Give a compact explanation of your product. Keep this explanation short, factual, truthful and very clear. For example:

  • Complete this Affiliate Marketing Training and learn how to use the internet to earn an extra income.

Explain the Product’s Significance

Next, explain what the product will do for them in detail. Make this section long and rich. Suggest a variety of product uses, and give examples. Make the most of this opportunity to directly target your unique audience! Clearly explain how your readers will benefit from your product.

  • This proven step-by-step system for building your very own web business…

Tell the Reader to Make a Purchase

GetResponse offers hundreds of attractive HTML message templates in dozens of categories but for the purposes of this video and because this will be the first follow-up message sent to new contacts, we’ll stick with a simple plain text message.

First, choose how many days, after sign-up, should pass before this follow-up is sent. By leaving the interval at zero it’s sent immediately to the new contacts. Select a name and email this follow-up should appear to be coming from. The available from fields can be edited by going to the my account page.

Next enter a subject line, click personalize to see available contact data and pre-defined fields for this campaign such as displaying the contacts first name.

In the editing area, type or paste the text for this message. When finished, click wrap long lines to optimize the width for plain text. Click personalized above the editing area to use contact data and pre-defined fields within your message contents such as the contacts name and the signature.

Below the editing area, buttons can be found to attach a file and test the message by sending to an email address.

Click spam check to see how the message rates with spam assassin including tips on what content might cause the message to be blocked by filters.

Click saver as draft at anytime to leave the editor and continue working on the message later.

Choose to track the click throughs of any links contained within this message and to display the subscription reminder details at the bottom of the message. When finished click save message at the bottom.

That’s it, the follow-up message will now be sent when contacts join the campaign list
