Your Businesses and the Internet

Your Businesses and the Internet

by Philip King

Welcome to the Internet. The Internet is a big place. Take a look around, see what others are doing. There is room available for you and your business if you want to join.

Will the Internet will be good for your business and for you?

The Internet has grown to be more than a novelty, it has become a tool and like all tools it should be used or discarded.

  • Get a website because you feel it’s necessary. Do not get a website simply because everyone has one.
  • Get a goal or vision. If you don’t have a goal or vision for your website then don’t get a website.
  • A website can make you billions. Do not let peer pressure push you to join the internet. To say, “we have a website”, is one thing, to say “we have a website where you can do this… and this… and this…” is quite another.

Can the internet help you and your business?

You’ve probably already heard this before, a good website will work for you and your business 24/7. Well there are an awful lot of false promises on the internet but this is one promise that is true.

Lets be more specific.

Do you need to answer customer questions?

  • A frequently asked questions (FAQ) section will reduce the number of repetitive calls you receive.

Do customers need to place orders?

  • Downloadable or online forms will make it much easier for customers to fill out paperwork at their convenience.

Do you have a paper catalogue?

  • An online catalogue can save an awful lot of money and can be changed and updated instantly at no cost.

Do you provide technical help?

  • An online library of technical information for the type of products you supply can bring customers to your door who would normally not even realise you exist.

Is your business local? Could your business go global?

  • There are journalists around the world who order packets of biscuits, tea and coffee from the UK via the internet because they cannot buy these products abroad. Even simple things can go global.

What is the internet to you?

A website is a globally available billboard, newspaper, magazine asking the world to visit you. How much would you spend a month for potential worldwide exposure? This is the true value of your investment in a website.

A website is not limited by the position on a street or the length of time a person keeps their newspaper or magazine. A website is your virtual business representation with a client base of anyone with an internet connection and a need.

If this article has envisioned you (is that a word?) and you have more questions than answers then please feel free to ask. It cost nothing and guess what, you can ask 24/7.
