Social Media Ad Spend Surpasses TV

It is also not surprising that Facebook dominated ad revenue. In fact, it was a rosy picture all round, with social media ad spend doubling worldwide over the past two years. Instagram is on track to generate an impressive year-on-year increase of 144 per cent.

Perhaps most significantly though, it is predicted that digital ad spend in the U.S. will surpass television spend, for the first time ever.

The Social Media Catch

The catch? It’s hard to reach enough targeted readers to build a following. And then it’s just as hard to reach a decent percentage of those people. For every 100 people who follow you on Facebook, only 6 percent will see your content in their feed …
