The Shopify Online Store Now Has 100,000 Stores Online

Just reading through a few news items and noticed that Shopify have crossed a significant barrier recently, 22 April. It seems they now have over 100,000 shops online in over 150 countries around the world. In comparison, one of Shopify’s main competitors BigCommerce boasts just over 50,000 stores in 100 countries.

• It’s interesting to see the types of retailers Shopify attracts. In addition to the expected clothing, gadgets and goods, there’s a temporary tattoo maker, Tattly, that lets you design your own custom temporary tattoo.

Last year Shopify launched Shopify Payments and Shopify POS, so that merchants have a fully integrated payment processor and can use Shopify in their physical retail store. This year Shopify launched the new Shopify Mobile, that lets merchants accept credit card payments from a mobile phone.
