Windows XP Day in Notification area

Isn’t it strange how we overlook the simple things.

I wanted to show the day as well as the time [day & time] in the Windows notification area. By default I have only the time showing. I know if you pass your mouse cursor over the clock the date will be displyed in a small popup, but I just wanted the day and time showing (I seem to be loosing track of the days, they just keep slipping by without me noticing).

I tried several freeware and shareware alternatives but none seemed to fit the bill, then at the very last moment (why do things always happen a the last moment, why can’t we have the last moment first) I accidentally made the taskbar taller by dragging the top edge upward and there before my very eyes is the day of the week.

Another alternative is to move the taskbar to the side of the screen instead of the foot of the screen. This has the added advantage (for me anyway) of enabling the full time, day, date display and the ability to display far more icons without the loss of screen space. Though I must admit it’s as confising as … at first.
